2017 will be the 2nd year for the Ozark National Forest Trail Race

Race Information

The Ozark National Forest Trail Run is one of a series of Extreme Events trail races promoted by Extreme Events, LLC.

Online registration has been closed. interested people must register on-site. This is normally the night before the race. This race is limited to only 75 runners.

Course Information

Warning: The course has rocks, tree roots and a creek crossing. Racers are cautioned to be aware of the dangers, keep your eyes on the trail and be aware of your next step. However, beginners are welcome.

The Lake Wedington trail race is held in the Lake Wedington area of the Ozark National Forest, West of Fayetteville, AR on Highway 16.

Since this is limited by the National Forest to 75 runners, it is a "no frills"race. There are no t-shirts and we can only accept donations. We recommend a donation of $25 to help pay for the cost of the race, but it is donation only. As long as we get enough donations to cover the costs, we can put on the race. We are also limited to 75 runners, so the first 75 to register will be allowed to race. Check the count before you try to show up on race day and register. Also, we are not allowed to collect donations the day of the race because it is on government land. If you register and later change your mind, please let us know, so we may give out your place to another runner.

The routes are rocky and treacherous. Beginners are welcome, but cautioned to be aware of the difficulty. The routes are well-marked. A few segments will require hiking or walking over rocks. There are no creek crossings to worry about.

There will be two routes for the ONF Trail Run at Lake Wedington

~7 Mile - This is an out-and-back course on single-track that is normally used by horses. This route starts in a parking area for the horse trailers, goes down the Lake Wedington Trail down to the main trailhead by the highway across from the boat launch area. There are about 2.5 miles of the course on gravel road, which allows the group to thin out a little bit before hitting the single track.

~10.5 Mile - This course follows the same route as the 7 mile, but it continues onto the East along the rest of the Lake Wedington Trail another two miles, then along the gravel road for another 1.5 to 2 miles before hitting the finish line.
